Sam Hawgood, MBBS, President
Sam Hawgood, MBBS, is the interim chancellor of the University of California, San Francisco. He has also served as dean of the UCSF School of Medicine and vice chancellor for medical affairs since September of 2009, after having served as interim dean since December of 2007. In addition to his distinguished career at UCSF, where he was also chair of the Department of Pediatrics and associate director of the Cardiovascular Research Institute, he has an international reputation in neonatology research.
John B. Ford, Vice President
John B. Ford is Vice Chancellor of University Development and Alumni Relations at UCSF and Vice President of the UCSF Foundation. Ford leads efforts to raise philanthropic support for the university and medical center and oversees comprehensive programs in alumni relations. He has over 40 years of experience in development and has previously helped organize and successfully implement three campaigns with goals of more than $1 billion.
John Plotts, Treasurer
John Plotts is the Senior Vice Chancellor, Finance and Administration and Treasurer of the UCSF Foundation. Plotts is responsible for the planning, design and construction of new buildings, including those at Mission Bay, and for creating and funding their capital and operating budgets. He came to UCSF in January 2010 after 14 years at University of California’s Office of the President, where he was Assistant Vice President for Financial Management.
Steve Downs, Secretary
Steve Downs is Executive Director of University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) and Secretary of the UCSF Foundation. Downs is responsible for all financial and administrative services within the Development Office and the UCSF Foundation. In addition, he staffs the Investment and Audit Committees of the UCSF Foundation.
